(NO 2407 1795) Abbot's Well (NR)

OS 6" map, Fife, (1920)

Abbot's Well together with the Monks' Well (N021NW 10) are believed to have provided Lindores Abbey with water. According to the NSA (1845) people drinking the water have been miraculously cured.

A natural spring in the hillside, with no built structure and no appearance of ever having had one. There is nothing to indicate it's archaeological importance.

Name Book 1854; NSA 1845; Information from D C Baird 19 June 1956, visited by June 1952.

A natural spring issuing from the hillside. Name is still known locally.

Visited by OS (R D) 20 May 1970.
