Geophysical Survey (22 August 2016 - 26 August 2016)
NO 20050 17956 AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by AXIS Consulting to undertake an archaeological geophysical (gradiometer) survey to investigate the potential for buried archaeological remains for a proposed solar farm scheme at Jamesfield, just outside of Abernethy, Perth and Kinross. The results of the survey, undertaken between 22 and 26th August 2016, identified a number of trends of archaeological significance as well as several pit like features. Several linear anomalies are evident along the eastern extent of the survey area, as well as potential enclosure - like anomalies in the north east and south west. The survey also detected a systematic series of land drains of unknown age.
