Just S of Loch na Craige the military road is on a line now followed by the modern road, although it heads straight N as far as Gate House, a keeper's house which was formerly an inn, rather than taking a sharp turn to the W. It continues N to the W side of the Pittiely Burn and takes a curve W into the SE corner of the square in Aberfeldy. Thereafter it traverses the Moness Burn (once known as the Paldie Burn) on a bridge (NN84NE 58) at NN 8557 4902, now of modern construction, although the original arch is still visible beneath it. The military road continues W for approximately two hundred and fifty yards along the line now followed by the modern road and then turns N to make for the Tay Bridge (NN84NE 36) at NN 8513 4930 and then heads almost directly W.

Several stretches of military road survive on this sheet. Also fine military bridge (NN84NE 36) at NN 8513 4930 in Aberfeldy over the Tay.

Visited by OS (JB) 15 April 1975

As the military road heads N past Loch na Craige it can be clearly seen crossing from one side to the other of the modern road until it crosses from the milestone on the bend to the E at NN 879 464. From that point it heads N on a well-defined track with marking stones for noticeably more than half a mile, traversing a small bridge (NN84NE 46.04) at NN 8763 4738 at Gatehouse. Thereafter it is possible to trace it to the E as it passes through a field and then takes a well-marked track through a birch wood. It then crosses to the W at the bend at NN 875 481, although it is difficult to trace, and carries along on higher ground until it descends at NN 872 484. The route probably then continues straight on as far as NN 869 485, although cultivation has masked all traces. However, from that point, despite being in poor condition, it is easy to distinguish as far as the hospital at Aberfeldy. The military road then crosses the Tay Bridge (NN84NE 36) at NN 8513 4930 at Aberfeldy and heads almost directly W.
