Archaeology Notes

NN25SE 8 2567 5492.

The remains of Queenshouse consist of one longhouse lying E-W and a secondary smaller cottage lying perpendicular to this at its W end. The houses are surrounded by a retaining dyke, with rig and furrow cultivation to the W of the enclosure. Two other raised areas within the enclosure may be the sites of earlier structures, though only the southernmost example had remnants of masonry to support this.

NMRS MS/725/68.

The ruin at Queenshouse at NN 2567 5492 is simply that of an old shepherd's house.
