The island of Eilean Balnagowan consists of two rocky ridges joined by a strip of lower ground on which are the wasted remains of a circular stone-walled enclosure measuring about 4 metres in diameter within a wall 1.3 metres thick. The wall is best preserved on the south half of its circuit where some outer facing stones remain in position. There is no sign of an entrance.
