(NM 8464 0132) Dun Mhic Choish (NR) (site of) (NAT)
OS 1:10,000 map, (1974)
This dun, of which only slight remains survive, occupies the summit of a small knoll on the W side of a steep hill shoulder overlooking the junction of the Kilmartin and Ford Glens. The flat summit area measures 48' by 40', and all that remained of the wall enclosing the dun, when visited by Christison, was scanty debris over a width of 24' on the north and 15' on the south. There is a long terrace 10' lower to the south with what appears to be a modern wall on its east side.
D Christison 1904; M Campbell and M Sandeman 1964.
As described. The name could not be confirmed.
Surveyed at 1:2500 scale
Visited by OS (R D) 12 October 1971.
Field Visit (June 1982)
The wasted remains of this bracken-covered dun are situated on the highest point of a ridge overlooking the Abhainn Airidhcheoduis, 250m SW of Creagantairbh Mor. The wall has been reduced to a band of rubble about 2m thick, which encloses a roughly circular area 12.5m in diameter. The position of the entrance is uncertain, but it probably lay on the NNE.
