Archaeology Notes

NK06SW 26.01 c.0355 6413

The control tower for Fraserburgh Airfield was situated within the perimeter track about 150m SE of the aircraft hangar base in the technical area (NK06SW 26.02).

The tower is visible on vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 108, 4003-4004, flown 23 May 1946), which show that immediately to the E of the building were the identification letters 'FB'.

The tower was built to drawing number 17658/40, specifically designed for satellite stations and this has now been demolished and the remains removed.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), July 2006
