OS 25" map, (1955).
The site of St John's Well, mentioned in 1696, which was named from the fact that it stood on St John's Croft. It was of considerable local repute and a building was erected over it in 1852. In 1885 it was removed to NJ 9351 0631 where virtually nothing was visible in 1952, and in 1955 it was moved to 24 Albyn Place where it takes the form of a U-plan of ashlar with seats (NJ90NW 2594 NJ 92897 05778).
Visited by OS (JLD) 8 September 1952.
