A double-sided slate brooch-mould, probably 15th century, found in the garden of Pitmedden House (NJ 88 28), was donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1959-60 by the National Trust for Scotland.

Included in a display inside a building in the N W corner of Pitmedden Garden (NJ 8855 2802) is a collection of potsherds (undated), a silver penny of Henry III, two 17th century copper coins and a replica of the brooch-mould, donated to the NMAS. These were dug up at various times during the reconstruction of the garden between 1955 and 1961. No one at Pitmedden is able now to indicate the exact find spots.
