Tower Lodge, Knockespock, 19th century. A baronial surprise on a narrow back road, its height on so narrow a base being rather improbable. Two lower of three storeys are circular, corbelled to square for a tall, gabled (with crowstepping) third floor, the whole flanked by tall, rocket-like stair-tower. A small, rustic version of William Kelly's gates at Dunecht. Restored and extended sensitively with small single-storey wing, also corbie-stepped, in 1992, by James Masson and Robert Crabbe; Geraldine Scott Design Award.

Taken from "Aberdeenshire: Donside and Strathbogie - An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Ian Shepherd, 2006. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
