Archaeology Notes

NJ41SW 38.12 414 148

This 10m long, 6m wide sub-rectangular cairn has an open centre. Traces of wall faces are visible beneath the stone piles, and it is suggested that this monument is the badly destroyed remains of a dwelling or small enclosure.

Visited by CFA, October 1992.

CFA 1993; MS/625/32.

(Previously classified as Indeterminate Remains: reclassified as Field Clearance Cairn). These 'indeterminate remains' are no more than a subrectangular clearance cairn of relatively modern date; there is no evidence that the remains ever formed part of an enclosure or dwelling.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, ATW), 28 April 1997.
