NJ33NW 23 c. 34 37

A decorated, flanged bronze axe (Coles' type Bc) 'from Auchindown, Dufftown' (Auchindoun Castle: NJ 348 374), formerly in the collection of J G Callander, was acquired by the Marischal College Museum, University of Aberdeen in 1940 (247/23).

(Flanged axe of Lissett type). Single find. Flanged axe, smooth, black, thick butt (3mm), hammered up bar stop (height 4mm), cutting edge notched, scratch marks on flanges; length 139mm, butt 20mm, cutting edge 50mm, weight 400gms. Anthropol. Mus. Aberdeen (247.28).
