Stone [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1976.

This granite boundary stone is situated about 350m WNW of the House of Newe (NJ31SE 42.00), close to the junction of two field boundaries. Rectangular in section, it measures 0.3m in breadth by 0.15m in thickness and 0.6m in height; on its NNE face there is an incised letter C, and on the SSW face the letter I, while on the flat top of the stone there is a number 3.

The stone is not depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1903, sheet lx) and, therefore, probably dates to the early part of the 20th century. It is one of a series of boundary stones that also includes NJ31SE 42.08 and NJ31SE 42.09 .

Visited by RCAHMS (SPH), 5 March 1998.
