Field Visit (30 May 2019)
This boundary stone, which is one of a series that once defined the extent of the War Department property on the North Sutor, forms part of the infrastructure of the battery introduced by the Army during World War 2. It is situated in a mixed plantation 7.25m NW of the engine house that provided power to the Counter Bombardment Post (NH86NW 9.8). It is a cast concrete pillar, roughly triangular on plan, with a flat back and a sloping top bearing the impressed legend ‘W’ and ‘D’ on either side of an upward pointing arrow, with the letters ‘BS’ and the number ‘10’ below.
