This weapons pit is situated in rough pasture 46m E of a silage clamp and is marked by a grass-grown depression measuring 7m from N to S by 5m transversely and 0.1m deep. An undated sketch map of the battery in the Fort Record Book held at the National Archives at Kew (WO192/248) identifies the depression as ‘8. Gun Pit’. It is also shown an aerial photograph (CPE/Scot/UK/0293 SFFO 0045) flown on 17 September 1947.
