(NH 7431 4497) Well of the Dead (NAT)

The 'Well of the Dead' is still to be seen near the graves (NH74NW 17.03) on the field of the Battle of Culloden. To this well it is said that the wounded and dying crawled to quench their thirst. - hence the name.

Name Book 1869; 1871.

This is a small stone-lined rectangular cavity containing water.
