Summary Record (10 February 2012)

The Poer House was built c.1900 as part of the improvements and re-development of the estate by James Fletcher. The architect is not known but stylistically it does not appear to be the work of William Flockhart who was working on the main house and other estate buildings. The building originally housed an hydro-electric generator hence the surviving watercourse passing under the building and a battery house. The dam that created the nearby Duck Lake provided the required water pressure. The Power House has now been converted into a holiday house.
