Summary Record (10 February 2012)

The stables were originally a three sided courtyard which was remodelled by Alexander Ross in 1874. The stables were remodelled again c.1900 most probably by William Flockhart who remodelled Rosehaugh House and other estate buildings for James Fletcher between 1898-1903.

ARCHITECT: Alexander Ross (I.A. 24 March 1874) Alterations

This large steading, built c.1811 Sir James MacKenzie, comprises a courtyard surrounded by houses, barn, stables, turnip shed, fold, loose-boxes, workshops, pig sties, byres, hayshed, dairy, engine house, and lambing shed (RCAHMSAP 2003).

The stable block was recorded as part of the Threatened Buildings Survey following an application for proposed redevelopment of the buildings for both residential and commercial use.
