Archaeology Notes

NH54SW 44 504 428.

Air photography in 1989 has revealed, on the N side of the track, to the N of NH54SW 14, a pit circle with a well-defined sub-rectangular central feature, another circular enclosure and a further double pit alignment/horse jump stance. As all are revealed in pasture it is extremely difficult to gauge the dimensions of the features. (AP nos: 8904.20-26 and 8906.56-57; held in Inverness Museum; see also Archive.) Information from J Harden 1989.

Activities

Aerial Photographic Interpretation (23 May 2014)

Following a review of the aerial photographs, the pit alignment and pit circle are now considered to be the result of recent activity associated with nearby Beaufort castle. As such, these classifications have been removed.
