The site of the church of the parish of Wardlaw, which was incorporated in Kirkhill parish in 1618.
The church is said to have been removed from this site in 1220 by Papal bull and no trace now remains.
Local traditions says the gravestone were removed to Kirkhill. (See NH54NW 4).

No traces are now visible of this chapel which was dedicated to St Maurice or St Mary; it was transferred to Wardlaw (NH 549 457) in 1220.

The supposed site of this church is marked by an elongated mound that measures approximately 50m from NNE to SSW by 40m transversely, and is about 0.8m in height. Covered with mature trees, the site is not currently in cultivation although the W edge of the mound has been eroded by the erection of a modern fence and trackway.
Wallace stated that 'Kirkhill consisted of two united parishes, Wardlaw and Farnua, which were united in 1618. The church of Wardlaw originally stood at Dunballoch, near Beauly bridge from where it was removed by Papal bull in 1220. The site of the church at Dunballoch still exists, but without a trace of grave or tombstone. Local traditions says that the gravestones were carried from Dunballoch to Kirkhill'. The original church of Farnua stood at Kirkton (NH64NW 8). The ruins of the combined church of St Mary's are at Kirkhill (NH54NW 4.
