'Blar nan Ceann' is the name applied to the hollow at the west end of Strathpeffer, and takes its name from having been the scene of a conflict between the MacKenzies and Macdonells of Glengarry, which the latter lost. The name means 'Battlefield of the heads' The date of this event could not be locally ascertained.
