Archaeology Notes

NH22NE 17 c. 2873 2525

For Guisachan House (NH 2873 2525) and associated buildings, see NH22NE 7.00.

A 'Bronze Age coffin' has been rebuilt at the ruin of Guisachan House (NH22NE 7.00) 'just yards' from the findspot of the stone axes NH22NE 16. Mr W Macdonald (now deceased) recalls its discovery about 12 or 15ft from its present location while the road was being removed. The original locaton lay in the centre of a ring of lime trees whch are said to have been planted 'on the outside of a stone circle'.

Information from Mr Stuart Grant, Tomich, Cannich, Inverness-shire (per Mr T Cowie, Dept of Archaeology, Royal Museum of Scotland [RMS]), 1 September 2000.

NMRS, MS/807/2.
