Archaeology Notes

A drystone sheepfold measuring c42m x c24m lies in a narrow depression between two small knolls, c500m NNE of the the N shore of Camas Bharabhaig. A pre-afforestation survey by Martin Wildgoose in February 2002 recorded a small drystone building and enclosure (site K) c 30m SW of the sheepfold . The building measures 9m x 5m over walls spread to 1.5m thick and is aligned NW - SE, with an entrance in the centre of the SW wall. The enclosure lies between the building and the sheepfold and measures 42m NW-SE x 24m NE-SW.

Aerial photographs show another larger enclosure, measuring c40m x c50m, lying immediately to the SW of the building and enclosure. There may also be other features here which have been damaged by recent tree planting and mounding.

Information from Ishbel MacKinnon, July 2011.
