Desk Based Assessment (10 March 1964)
HY41SW 3 4362 1238 and 4335 1265.
The construction of Hatston aerodrome during the 1939-45 war revealed the dilapidated remains of a small earthhouse. Before its removal plans were made of it by the Min of Works. Finds were an anthropomorphic object, 15 inches long, chipped out of a block of gray flagstone, and hand-made potsherds such as are found in brochs.
(A - HY 4362 1238) "Site of Hatston Earth House Roof and Uprights removed and stored 1200 feet to NW".
(B-HY 4335 1265). "Mark stones enclosing pits where roof and uprights from Hatston Earth House are stored".
