HU38NE 5 c. 358 854

See also HU38NE 4 and HU38NE 6.

(Area: HU 358 854) 'A broad belt of angular stones, heaped together pell-mell in the most fantastic manner. Underneath some of the larger masses were roomy and well sheltered cavities, which might have been utilised in former ages as human habitations'. This belt lies immediately east of the 'Giant's Garden' (HU38NE 4) and between it and the crest of the ridge to the east.

R Munro 1904.

No artificial constructions were located within an area of extremely dense scree in which many fortuitous arrangements of boulders confirming to Munro's description can be seen.

Visited by OS (RL) 19 May 1969.
