(HP 5766 0311) Standing Stone (NR)
OS 6" map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1900).
A roughly triangular block of schist, 4' high, set with a slight inclination towards the west, in what was probably its original position on the margin of a very dilapidated cairn of large stones. It is now used as a straining post for a hill fence.
Scheduled as 'Standing Stone'.
RCAHMS 1946, visited 1930.
This standing stone is as described. It stands on the NW edge of a scatter of large blocks, only two or three of which are earthfast, on top of an eminence. These may represent the remains of a cairn but insufficient remains to be certain. The standing stone is considered locally to be a boundary stone.
