Field Visit (23 August 1993)

NY28SW 47 2372 8372

The remains of a probable cairn, measuring 10m in diameter by 0.7m in height, are situated on the highest part of Newhall Hill, immediately NW of the settlements NY28SW 6. Its flat top indicates that it has almost certainly been disturbed.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, ARW), 23 August 1993 and 13 July 1995.

Listed as cairn.

RCAHMS 1997.

Change Of Location (11 February 2022)

The NGR of this possible cairn has been changed from NY2372 8372 to NY2376 8376 in order to tally with the description of the site which places it NW of the adjacent settlements rather than W. The cairn appears not to have been mapped by EDM when it was first recorded.

Information from HES Survey and Recording (JRS) 11 February 2022.
