Circumstances of Loss Details

The vessel went ashore 1 mile north (true) of Fifeness Point on voyage from Aberdeen to Granton. The crew of 9 landed in their own boat. The trawler is very damaged and total loss.

Surveying Details

6 October 1928. The vessel's position is given as 56 19 00N, 002 36 00W. 1 minute N (true) from Fifeness Point. The forepart is high and dry. The mast and superstructure is visible at all tides. The vessel is likely to become a total wreck.

6 November 1928. The weather is worse with no signs of improvement. A very heavy sea is breaking over the vessel. The Salvage Association does not consider refloating practicable.

The location assigned to this record remains unverified, but is accepted. The cited location falls 315m WNW of the North Carr Beacon (NO61SW 25, at NO 6471 1153).

UKHO chart no. 175 (1977, revised 1996) notes no wreck in this area, which has a charted depth of between 10 and 15m, and slopes to the NE. There is no indication of seabed type.
