Formerly entered as NO60NW 8002 at cited location NO 6335 0771 [N56 15.6333 W2 35.5].

Shortly before midnight last night the Granton trawler River Avon ran ashore on the rocks off Kilwinning Rock, Fife Ness. The trawler is well on the rocks and it is feared that it may be impossible to refloat her.

Registration: Granton. Built 1919. 202grt. Length: 35m. Beam: 7m.

(Location of loss cited as N56 15.63 W2 35.50).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Kilminning Rock cannot be specifically identified from the available map evidence. The current edition of the OS 1:50,000 map applies the name Kilminning Castle to a promontory at NO 632 086. There is a prominent rock at NO 63270 08587, about 50m offshore.
