Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Turret House, situated on Abbey Court, is a striking building, so named because of the massive two-storeyed, round stair-tower projecting from the building. On top of the tower is a corbelled square attic with crowstepped gables. Originally built in 1678, the building has seen several alterations and additions, including the tower and attic.

The house itself is a rectangular, two-storeyed and attic building with crowstepped gables and an attic lit by nineteenth-century dormer windows. Entry to the tower is by a door at its base, while the main part of the house is reached by the front door, above which is a datestone of 1678.
