ND38SE 1 3928 8495.
At ND 3938 8495 is a turf-covered cairn c.11.0m in diameter and 0.5m high, partially destroyed in the SE by erosion. Within the SW arc are three slabs on edge protruding for 0.2m through the turf. These slabs are orientated NNE-SSW and probably represent the remains of a chamber.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
Visited by OS (IMT) 30 April 1973
Not accepted as a chambered cairn. Probably a domestic structure (c/f ND38SE 3 and ND38NE 2) (information from A S Henshall).
Visited by OS (JLD) 20 May 1981
Field Visit (21 August 2014)
First interpreted as a cairn in 1973 by the Ordnance Survey and then reinterpreted by Henshall and the OS as a ruinous domestic structure in 1981, the purpose and date of this grass-grown mound, which measures about 10m in diameter and up to 1m in height, is not known. The mound has been truncated by the plough and dug into along its W side, and three edge-set slabs which are visible may represent the remains of a chamber measuring roughly 0.6m by 1.3m.
Visited by RCAHMS (GFG, AM) 21 August 2014.
