Excavation (December 1993)
A series of seven trenches were excavated as Phase 3, excavations for the new water mains, to allow unimpeded passage of the new water main between Burnside Cottage and Clachanach Croft through the area of the Medieval Vallum. This work was undertaken during December of 1993 and was followed up by a watching brief in January 1994 to ensure no damage occurred during the pipe breaking phase.
