(ND 2495 4519) Camster Grave Yard (NAT)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1976)

A small detached grave yard. Of the origin or church to which it belonged nothing is known in the neighbourhood. Interments are still made in it. (Not in RCAHMS inventory)

Name Book 1872.

Camster graveyard is in good condition and oriented N-S, measuring about 12.5 by 6.5m. The earliest legible stone is dated 1806 and the latest 1938. Future interments are anticipated.

About 6.0m outside the S wall is a curving, turf-covered bank which could be part of an earlier graveyard wall otherwise destroyed, although there is no local tradition of one.

Visited by OS (I S S) 6 April 1972.
