For country house of Knockhill (NY 1660 7400), see NY17SE 36.00.

A map of the West Marches of Scotland and England (dated 1590) notes 'Knockhill ye dukes howse'. In Blaeu's Atlas, where it is labelled 'Duke of Hoddoms', this is shown as standing in a park. The Hearth Tax returns of 1691 include a reference to the 'old tower house of Knockhill'; this may have stood in the vicinity of Knockhill House (NY17SE 36.00).

Information from RCAHMS (IF), 4 January 1996.

(J and R Hyslop 1912; J M Corrie 1916; D Adamson 1972; J Stone 1991).

Listed as tower.
