Upper Daviesdykes farmhouse and farmsteading is described in the Name Book (ONB 1858-61) as, "A dwelling house with offices". It is depicted as roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire 1864, sheet xiii). On the OS 2nd edition map (Lanarkshire 1899, sheet xiii SW) the complex is unchanged. The farmstead is named Davisdykes on these early edition maps. Aerial photographs show that a further five buildings have been added.
