Archaeology Notes

NX69NE 8 centred 671 955

At NX 670 955, a group of 16 small grassed over cairns occupy a gently sloping area around the 330-340m contour on the S slope of Brecknach to the E of the Craigencarse Burn. The cairns which are fairly regular are between 3 and 4m in diameter by 0.3m high. Two more cairns lie some 40m to the S. A further 11 similar-sized cairns lie between the 320 and 330m contours, about 100m to the E of the main area. Both groups are probably part of the same system.
