Archaeology Notes

HP50NE 10 c. 598 094

An earth-house was discovered many years before 1930 at West Scrafield (HP 598 094), in a field about 300yds SW of the ruined church of Balliasta (HP 602 096). It was immediately filled in. The passage, which is said to have been lintelled lay at a considerable depth. The only object found was a broken pot of black ware which was not disturbed.

RCAHMS 1946, visited 1930.

No further information.

Visited by OS (RL) 28 April 1969
