Archaeology Notes

Field Visit (11 October 2013)

A concrete pier made using a wet concrete bag method of construction. The pier was built as part of the fuel supply system from the tank at Naast. The distinctive shape of the former hessian sacks, with the imprint of the hessian clearly visible on the concrete, made for a rapid construction method. The end of the pier has been eroded, but the remainder of the pier is still in good condition.

Visited by RCAHMS (AKK) 11 October 2013.
