Archaeology Notes

ND05NW 33 0395 5800.

A low mound measuring some 37 x 10m oriented NNE and set upon the flood plain of the Forss river. It has internal divisions 3, 15, 20, and 28m from the SW end. Joined to the NE end is a structure 15 x 10m.

The mound resembles a long cairn, but it is uncertain whether the C-shaped enclosure at the NE end is original to its conception or is a later structure.

R J Mercer 1985.

Not a long cairn, but a line of house foundations, yards and enclosure.

Visited by A S Henshall 11 July 1987.
