Archaeology Notes

NM22SE 58 2873 2490

During an archaeological evaluation of a pipeline route in January 1993 a trench was sunk in to the top of the raised beach in order to gauge the depth of cover. The trench fill was found to be composed of small waterworn pebbles mixed with a fine rich brown soil. This reached 0.80m in depth, above a greyish, pebble-bearing sand. Pressure of time did not allow further examination. The fill of the trench proved to be completely sterile.
