Activities

Field Visit (12 November 1991)

NT60NE 70.00 centred 6505 0860.

This archaeological landscape, which is disposed along the W side of the Jordan Sike from Croft Plantation in the N to the Carter Burn in the S, a distance of 0.9km, comprises a broad swathe of rig, a farmstead, two possible building-platforms, a quarry, two phases of boundary bank and a line of shooting butts. Although the N end of the site is delimited by Croft Plantation, traces of rig were visible at NT 6520 0920 in the improved field to the NE of the plantation, in low-light conditions, and may indicate that there used to be a much larger expanse of rig.
