Archaeology Notes

NX85NW 22 c. 849 561

A copper alloy MBA flanged axehead was found while digging in marshy ground to the NW of Duff's Loch. Now in Dumfries Museum, following a treasure trove enquiry. NMS daybook no. DB 1991/27.

NMS 1992.

Attributed to Irish 'Bandon' type, and comparable to the plain axe found nearby at Barclay (NX85SE 4).
