An intermittently enclosed strip is situated E of the modern road southwards from Rodinghead. It runs past the farm of Deaconhill (NS 486 313), Hollybush and Knowehead (NS 4929: see NS42NE 24.01). 'Though the surface indications strongly suggested the course of a former road, a number of cuts all produced negative results, and the strip must be taken to represent a former plantation strip.' (Presumably at least one of these cuts was made in the strip of trees W of Deaconhill farm, shown on OS 6-inch map, 1970, running from NS 4846 3150 to NS 4856 3097.)
