Prestwick (NS 35 26) was a demesne burgh of Walter Steward (about 1136-77); the northern part of the parish was given by him to the monks of Paisley and became known as Monkton. The Stewart's court was held at Prestwick between 1241 and 1282, and probably from the time of Walter (noted above) (cf NS32NE 14).
