Archaeology Notes

NG51NE 12.15 5931 1607.

At the western end of the amphitheatre of hills referred to in NG51NE 12.13 and NG51NE 12.14 and part of the same general group of structures, is

a longhouse, byre and enclosure. Lying 6.5m N of a large dyke, the longhouse is aligned N-S and measures 11.5m by 3m over walls 1m thick. The enclosure is attached to the W side of the longhouse using its W wall as one side and measures 18.5m by 15.5m internally. To the S and on the other side of the dyke is a grass-covered ruin which may have been a byre.
