Archaeology Notes

ND24NW 18 2077 4526.

A grass and heather covered slight penannular bank is situated 75m NNW of the sheepfold at Upper Munsary (ND24NW 14). It has maximum dimensions of 14m diameter. The penannular bank, spread to 3m, encloses a slightly sunken area some 8.2m in diameter. There is a possible break in the bank to the NW, facing a small burn which is not marked on the 1:10,000 OS map. It is possible that this is a hut circle or shieling, but equally it could be a natural feature.

NMRS MS/645, p.11.
