Archaeology Notes

NY59SW 3 c533 934.

(Approx NY 533 934) Heuchhoushil with tower symbol on Ponts map of Liddesdale (1608).

The approximate site falls on high ground now within a large area of foresty. Nothing significant was found during perambulation and neither the name or tradition of a tower was known locally. Dr Robson (curator, Hawick Museum) has no information on the name, and doubts the existence of a strong tower here.
