Millholm Cross, set up in memory of a laird of Mangerton (NY48NE 3) stands within a railing in a field about a mile S of Newcastleton. The original part of the cross is 8 ft 3 ins high apart from the base, which is 1 ft 8 ins high. A modern top has been added to the upper limb. On the shaft, just below the cross-head, are the initials MA and AA in relief; below these is an incised sword with a rounded pommel and straight quillons.

Field Visit (February 1996)
The Armstrong Clan Trust have erected a noticeboard at the gate leading to the cross, recording a tradition that it was 'erected c.1320AD to the memory of Alexander Armstrong, Lord of Mangerton, following his murder at Hermitage Castle. His sorrowing attendants are believed to have rested at this spot on the way to Ettleton churchyard'.
