OS 25" map (1900)

For modern farmsteading of Tower-of-Sark (NY 3339 7503), see NY37NW 46.

Kinmont's Tower of Sark, or Morton, is shown on a map of 1590. It was here that Buccleuch made final plans to rescue Kinmont Willie from Carlisle Castle in 1596.

J and R Hyslop 1912

There is now no trace of this tower, referred to as 'Sark Tower' by the local farmer.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 22 June 1970

Nothing can be seen of what is variously known as Sark, Morton or Kinmont's Tower. It is locally said to have stood about 100 m E of Tower-of-Sark farmhouse (i.e. in the area indicated on OS 25").
