The "mote" shows no signs of artificial shaping and its slopes are too shallow for a mote-hill. It is probably natural.
RCAHMS 1914
As stated above this is probably a natural mound. It appears to have been a small circular plantation. The slopes appear to be too shallow for a motte and there is no real evidence of a flat top. The O.S. 25" plan shows a ditch round the south side of the mound but there is no evidence on the ground for this, the slopes here being natural.
